Excerpt: Preface
What a shit show life is, eh? Well, me and you are going to try and make sense of it all during this book. This is our book. The reason it is not my book is because I know you have been through shit too in your life . Some of us deal with a lot more shit than others, but overall, we all put up with our fair share of shit. So this book is for all of us. For those of you who have been through shit or are currently going through shit. Together however, we are going to get through it. You are NOT alone. Welcome to the shitshow club, where we embrace the shit we are going through and use it as a catalyst to reach a new place in our lives, one that we may have not even considered yet. If you’re already sitting here doubting that, then you better buckle up and come along for the wild road of self-discovery that lies ahead. This isn’t conventional. Honestly, I don’t even know if this book will get published with all of the swearing, but if it offends you – I’m sorry – just say ‘beep’ in your head every time you see a swear word.
No Peter, this is not one of those books where I teach you how to be a millionaire (I’m hoping one of you is actually called Peter if not I’m going to be disappointed). This, my newly acquainted friend, is a book about finding what makes you truly happy and gives you the permission to go and chase it. Life is literally too short to be sad, and although you may not believe it, you are awesome and have so much to give the world. Now I cannot promise this book is all sunshine and rainbows. In fact, some of this may require some difficult self-reflection. However, I am going to be here for the whole thing and by the end I am hoping you feel ready to take over the world – yes Peter, that was just a metaphor!
Before we start however, I want to give a massive shout out to my mother; I literally wouldn’t be here without her. She has been an absolute rock for me despite leaving home at eighteen to start a life in a different country. Her unwavering love has allowed me to continue to chase my dream of helping others and she has given me much of the wisdom that sets the foundations for this book. Mum, without you I would not be the man I am today, and I would not have had the courage to write this book. Thank you for always believing in me and my dreams. If this book ever manages to be seen by more than ten people, I am taking you on the book tour with me!
On a less soppy note, are you ready to kick some of life’s ass? (this is where you’re meant to say yes out loud to an inanimate object)
I would love to hear your feedback!
